Matilija Poppy
2022 16x8" (includes black wood frame, 18x10") SOLD Matilija poppies or tree poppies are native to California and Northern Mexico. They are perennials with woody stems and may grow to a height of 8 feet. They have the biggest flower of the poppy family, with large white flowers that have intense yellow centers. Because of this, they are also called the "fried egg plant". I have a commission to make a piece with this species and wish I'd seen one in my many travels to the Southwestern US and Mexico. Loved doing the research and learning about a new fascinating plant. This is a practice piece for the much bigger version. |
