As a full time professional artist, I can share some tips on how to maximize your ‘business time’ in order to have more time for important things, like your art. I believe the best approach is to use an array of techniques, suited to each personality and situation. We will analyze the relative value of each selling tool, and how they work in combination.

3. The Embroidered Tree: My Journey with Science and Art

Although I have been a professional textile artist for over 25 years, I began my post secondary education with a BSc in Agriculture, with a Major in Ornamental Horticulture. Since the start of my art career, I have drawn from my science background to create credible, researched works that speak to audiences from all backgrounds. How do I find a synergy in the seemingly disparate fields of science and art? In this lecture and trunk show, I speak about the scientific and aesthetic search for truth, and how trees and their seeds became the main vehicles for my imagery. The journey is illustrated with images and real works from my tree and seed-inspired collections.
