Emerald Ash Borer2022 16x16" SOLD Emerald Ash Borer is a forest pest native to Asia that has killed millions of Ash trees in southwestern Ontario, and the Great Lakes States. It attacks both healthy and stressed Ash trees when its larvae tunnel through the tree’s vascular system which delivers water, nutrients and sugars throughout the tree. Yet its green metallic wing covers catch the attention, and its larvae create a distinctive meandering tunnel design along the length of the trunk. Even the most destructive of insects are beautiful in their own right, and fascinating to study. I was wondering about my attraction for such creatures, endowed with a doomed persistence to destroy their own hosts. Then I realized: they are just like humans.
