Bug #6 - Blue Damselfly

12x12" (includes black wood frame, 14x14")

The Blue Damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) was common around the ponds and lakes where I grew up. Delicate but deadly, this relative of the Dragonfly is always on the hunt for small flying insects. Its nymph, an underwater denizen, is equally voracious, consuming vast numbers of mosquito larvae as well as other small organisms. They are yet another miracle of nature, with a luscious blue stem like body floating magically on translucent wings.

I've added some brownish nymphs in this piece, awaiting their wings.
